Train the Trainer

Teaching Adults

The principles and practices of effective training are related to those of effective teaching, but there are significant differences between them. An outstanding practitioner in the classroom will not necessarily be able to transfer those skills instantly to the training room.

Effective educational trainers design and deliver their work for the specific needs of the audience and are mindful of the differences between pedagogy (children’s learning), androgogy (adult learning) and heutagogy (self-directed learning). They use this thinking, together with clearly defined learning outcomes, to provide training that is fit for purpose, engaging and has impact.
