Impact Studies

It's a privilege to affect positive change in schools - and to see those changes maintained and built on once my work has finished. Here are some examples of my facilitation and training, its impact and how I make it sustainable. Projects currently in work will be updated when impact is shown.

Embedding a sustainable video coaching provision that accelerates teacher professional development

The Headteacher approached thinking classroom with a requirement to improve the quality of teaching and learning specifically for a group of NQT (+1)s who joined the school in September 2014.

Key Elements of this project include:

  • Set up and establish in-ear coaching using Iris Connect
  • Work extensively with focus teachers
  • Integrate Iris Connect practices with Lesson Study
  • Train in-school coaches
  • Whole school training
  • Impact measures using industry standard model

Improving leadership Teaching and Learning: Long Term sustainable support

The Headteacher approached Thinking Classroom with a requirement to improve the quality of teaching and learning throughout the school and to develop the senior leadership team.

Key Elements of this project include:

  • Demonstration lessons, co-teaching and teacher-time-outs
  • Iris Connect live and time-shifted coaching/lesson analysis
  • Executive leadership coaching
  • Creating Extra-Ordinary Leaders programme
  • Twilight Masterclasses
  • Training teacher champions for project sustainability

Adventure-Based Learning: Curriculum Enrichment Programme

The Headteacher approached Thinking Classroom with a requirement to make the EYFS and KS1 curricula more engaging and more effective. Together we have developed a staff and curriculum development programme around Adventure Learning.

Key Elements:

  • Coherent set of learning skills, behaviours and dispositions linked to child-'friendly animal adventurers'
  • Staff fully explore the concept of 'Learning Adventure' through CPD experiences
  • Staff empowered to plan, teach and assess in ways that engage pupils
  • Staff empowered to have teaching adventures and to adopt the role of 'Great Guide'
  • Effective engagement of boys and more able learners

The headteacher approached Thinking Classroom to work with each member of staff using a variety of coaching techniques. Work is also being undertaken with the school development team to ensure a sound strategic view.

How can we develop pupils' higher order thinking skills using creative approaches to teaching and learning?

Training Package: 12 days bespoke training, coaching and strategic consultation working as a Creative Practitioner for Creative Partnerships.
