Your Thinking Classroom Website 

I've been running the Thinking Classroom website for over 12  years. It started as a classroom project back in 1999 (56K dial-up), won a Microsoft Innovation award in 2006 (1Mb broadband) and is now the place where I publish my teaching and training resources (allegedly 5 Mb but you know what phone company ads are like).

The site is always evolving to meet the diverse needs of educators around the world. And I'm always ready to hear what you want from a website like this. My plans for the next year already include suggestions from several Premium Members. So have a think about the resources and education topics you want then mail me mike@thinkingclassroom.co.uk

Resources

As you can see from the map most of the site is dedicated to teaching and learning resources.

The Thinking Classroom pages explain my (always evolving) philosophy of education and give details of eight areas in which I am particularly interested including Thinking Skills, Multiple Intelligences, Creativity and Leadership. You'll also find resources to support each of these topics.

The Members' Resources area is divided into four sections. Non-members can download sample resources. Free standard members get more and Teacher Premium Members can access everything in this area.

Toolbox

The Teacher's Toolbox includes 5 different visual lesson starters drawn from a bank of 600 original photos: Pick Me, Storytime, Great Ideas, Odd One Out and Links. Each week the starters change so you get a different thinking starter for every day of the school year.

Each set of starters stays up for 2 weeks and there are examples and teacher's notes to help you out.

Resources Library

This area is the largest. All site resources are collected together here. The library is arranged into 9 shelves. Each one holds a different type of resource such as posters, archive thinking tools and Ebooks.

Whenever a new resource as added to the site you'll be able to get it here.

You can search the library by type of resource or by theme (e.g.: creativity, boys' learning, leadership)

Online Learning Magazine

If you are a standard or premium member of the site you'll get an email each month telling you that a new online magazine is out.

The magazine comes in 2 parts on a dedicated issue page. The first part explores a relevant education topic and the second gives you that month's latest resources.

It's my way of keeping you informed about the site and of supporting  your professional thinking and learning. All back issues are available to members.

Community

As of early 2011 nearly 13,000 people have chosen to join the website. That's a potentially huge store of professional knowledge, skills, advice and ideas.

Use the forums to ask questions, debate topics and share ideas with teachers who think like you.

My blog gives away my passions, protests and possibilities when it comes to teaching and learning. You can add comments to each post. Disagreeing is encouraged. I guess we learn most from those with whom we disagree.
