I've been teaching in class a little more recently - to complement and inform the conference room stuff. And I'm more convinced than ever of the power of young minds to create and solve problems.
Trying out my own Toolbox ideas, kids from 5 years up make the most fascinating, wacky and unexpected ideas. Gas meter, globe, seaweed - which is the odd one out?
Why it's the seaweed of course because it's fixed to a rock.
Why it's the globe of course because the Earth is so solid.
Why it's the gas meter of course because it has to keep dangerous gas inside its pipes.
Yesterday I tried Storytime - 6 random pix - 6 minutes to make a 30 second story. Creativity, pressure, performance - all before the playground dust has settled.
Their minds are still free - uncluttered with adult baggage; unrestricted by expectations.
We should set children loose on bigger problems. "How do we reduce conflict?" "How can we spend less?" "How can we get along a bit better on this beautiful planet?"
